said the cynic: another typical 'top whatever' list from another major media outlet; it reads like a who's who of classic rock/major FM airplay bands; of course, given the demographic, that's to be expected, so nothing out-of-the-ordinary, except the list leaves off a great many contenders who would be there but for their flying under the radar

It's hard to argue with the top ten even if you're sick of them. (i know i am). http://guitar.about.com/library/bl100greatest.htm

I've just glanced through the rest and I didn't see GD until #78 for Truckin? http://guitar.about.com/library/bl100greatestg.htm

now i got a problem... WTF? Do these people think the only Grateful Dead songs are the 3 they occasionally play on the radio and felt they had to fit them in there somewhere? Seriously, Truckin is Jerry's best solo if all he ever played was Truckin, Casey Jones, and FOTD (his mainstream radio hits)

that's just sad

I think the Dead only had three songs. I remember I called the "classic rock" station in DC about 10 years ago and requested Eyes. The DJ said, "Sorry, I'd get fired if I played that. Pick another Dead tune." I think he ended up playing Sugar Mags.

Sad....
